Franchisee's Responsibility to Uphold and Enhance the Brand Name

When it comes to large franchise organizations, the franchisees are very much part of any brand development strategy, as the local franchised outlet represents that brand within their trading area and exclusive territory. It is for this reason that franchisees should take full responsibility to uphold and enhance their brand name at every possible opportunity. You see, it is the franchised outlet that the end user, client, and customer sees when they think about the brand name associated with the franchising system.

Now there are many franchise owners that do not feel this way and believe they are buying into a strong brand and paying a good chunk of money, franchise-fee, for the opportunity to use that brand name, and thus, all responsibility belongs on the back of the Franchisor. I humbly disagree and would like to explain why.

Please understand that when you sign up and join a franchise-system you are marrying into a family, and you must honor your family name, not ride on its coattails. There are no free rides in franchising, nor should there be, it's a team, and teams play to win. Each player must put forth their best efforts in the common cause of market share, profits, and customer service.

If a franchise-team-member does anything less than that, they are dishonoring their family name, brand-name, and really do not have any business enjoying the fruits of all the other team member's labors. You must be in it to win it, and you must carry this responsibility with you each and every day. Please consider this
