Food Network magazine is media's next wave


NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Food Network, one of the most iconic brands on cable
television, also represents the future of magazine publishing.
As media companies compete for advertising revenue during the recession, the key to
success will be a company's ability to give a title maximum exposure across many
platforms. Some publishing houses have missed out on opportunities to draw from a larger
well of potential readers and advertisers.
Then there is Hearst's fledgling Food Network magazine. The idea of creating a publication
from a popular television network is shrewd. This follows the example of ESPN the
