Common Cheating Myths

There are a lot of people who think they know who is cheating and why they cheat, but a fact is that there are a lot of myths out there about adultery. Whilst many of us buy into all the myths, cheating, we would probably be better served by coming to the cold facts.

1. Men cheat more than women. This is simply not true. While more men pony up for cheating once during their marriage or relationship, the difference is not so great. Statistics show that 24% of men cheat, while 14% of women cheat. Safety statistics show that men cheat more than women, but as you can see the difference is not much to say that men cheat more than women.

2. Many people believe that all men cheat for sex. Many people cheat because they do not get sexually satisfied, but a lot of people cheat for different reasons. Actually more people cheat because they want someone to talk to, they are lonely, or they need a connection with someone, they receive from their spouse.

3. People only cheat if they do not love their spouse. This is simply not a myth, it is true. Actually, most people love their spouse, and if they did they would just get divorced. Most people just are not happy at the moment with some aspects of their relationship, and that is what leads to cheating.

4. Men cheat with people who are younger. This is another myth that is just not true. Generally, men not so much about the age of the woman that they do it with. Instead they are looking for someone who will fulfill a need, whether emotional, social or sexual. The person he decides to cheat with has more to do with ability than age.

5. When someone cheats they will always look for opportunities to cheat again. If this were true, would be at least 50% of the population never that you could date or marry because they would cheat. We are cheating more emotional reasons than anything else, as long as the person is willing to commit to a relationship and work through tough times when the cheater does not mean that they will always cheat.

These are really common myths associated with cheating. Fortunately, most of them are not true. The more people come to terms with what is and is not true, the easier they will be able to understand each other and their own behavior with regard to cheating involved. The fact is that it is a choice to cheat, and for one reason or another, a good proportion of the population makes you want to cheat, regardless of their motivation may be.
