Indian rupee edged higher against the greenback in the morning trade largely in line with other firming Asian currencies amid strong equities market.
In the spot market, the Dollar Index increased 0.212% to 79.92. It touched a high of 79.96 and a low of 79.78 after opening at 79.79. (23:13ET)
Rupee rose 0.27% against USD to Rs 46.52. (10.15 a.m.). On Tuesday, the rupee closed higher at 46.65/6.
The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex rose by almost 99 points or 0.61% to 16,141.13 in opening trade on Wednesday.
