The term 'gun' can be found in many languages in which it was originally defined and can be translated as beet or cane. In recent times, is "canon" is not used as much, and words like "weapons" or "artillery" has generally replaced the older word. Now, more concrete can be used, and terms such as "mortar" or "howitzer" can be heard over most military radios.
A canon is something barreled artillery piece that requires gunpowder or other explosive-based propellants to eject a large projectile. The guns have different caliber, range, and they also come with different mobility rates of fire, firepower and fire angles. Depending on their intended use on the battlefield, combining different guns these important properties in different ways, for example, some will sacrifice mobility for greater firepower.
The guns were used in medieval China , and they were probably among the earliest gunpowder artillery. Soon, they replaced modern equipment such as siege engines and siege towers as a means of commanding the battlefields of Europe . The earliest guns in Europe were probably used in Iberia , the Spanish war, in the 13th century and the English guns were first introduced in the Battle of Crecy in 1346
The guns were largely standardized in the late medieval era and were more effective in both anti-infantry and siege roles. Afterwards big guns were discarded in favor of a greater number of equally deadly but more maneuver arms. Tactics have become much more developed makes most modern defensive measures obsolete. This has in turn led to the development of star forts, palisades larger stones specifically designed to reject the artillery and other related tactics.
As the grooves in the barrel that spin the projectile (milled) was more common was the accuracy potential of large pieces drastically improved and became more lethal (especially where the infantry were concerned) than ever before. In the First World War, a large proportion of the total deaths were caused by guns and they were also used in WW2. Apart from the heaviest naval guns has been replaced by smart missiles, most modern guns very similar to those deployed during the 2nd World War II.
For example, modern auto cannons almost identical to their World War 2 relatives. Although there is no minimum CAL to auto cannon ammunition, the only real difference between modern weapons and World War 2 models is that the new pieces are generally larger than heavy MGS, typically 20mm or larger since 2 World War II. They have an automatic firing mode, corresponding to a heavy MG. They also have an automated reading and a lot faster to fire than other guns.
