Private security agencies beware. From Monday, the city police will launch a massive drive to check credentials of men employed by private security agencies.
Those with ambiguous credential will be penalised with strict punitive action, said police officials. The drive is outcome of the recent incident wherein a private security guard was found involved in robbery case of gold bars worth Rs 64 lakh. In addition, the city police conducted a surprise check recently and caught private security guards napping at various multiplexes and malls in the city.
"Most security guards on duty at various malls and multiplexes are invisible, non-existent. That is if you go by the police records. This is because most of these private security agencies are illegal and have no formal registration," said senior police officials.
