Randy Moss has the impression he’s not wanted back by the Patriots [team stats] after next season. He believes he has just one more season to catch passes from Tom Brady [stats]. He seems to think the perfect quarterback/wide receiver marriage will end following 2010.
According to a source with knowledge of the situation, there have been no formal talks between the sides about a contract extension or lack of such for the Pro Bowl wide receiver, who has a year left on his three-year, $27 million extension.
So Moss, who is an intelligent man, was merely projecting his views Saturday night while taking a short break from former teammate Heath Evans [stats]’ charity softball game. It wasn’t based on anything he was told. He was speculating on what he believes will be the case: The Pats won’t extend him again.
It’s interesting that Moss didn’t seem the least bit bothered by the scenario, if it in fact plays out that way.
