The center, which is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, introduced its latest report on national health this week, which covers health technology.
According to the report, the use of magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography/positron emission tomography scans ordered or provided in doctors’ offices and emergency departments tripled from 1996 to 2007, USA Today reported. In addition,
“There are newer and better technologies all the time, and they're changing the face of health care and practice patterns," Amy Bernstein, the report's lead author, a health scientist, told USA Today.
