Wine enthusiasts will consider Cabernet Sauvignon wines to be among the best red wines in the world. They have a special aromatic taste and flavor has hints of berries, olives, coffee, mint and herbs all mixed together. Among white varieties, Chardonnay, it is easily the most popular, producing some of the world's finest white wines. Varieties and types is overwhelming at times, but you do not take long to get familiar with all the wine values. 

A basic understanding of wine is important to a wine enthusiast, especially if he intends to go into the wine, if only for his personal use. Winemaking is actually quite simple and is an ancient technique. It is not necessary to have sophisticated equipment to make wine. 

For starters, you know what kind of grapes to use, and where they are grown, the right age to pick, and things like acidity and sugar levels.
