7 Easy Ways to protect your mobile phone

Statistics show that about 88% of us do not leave home without our mobile phones. Since most of us depend on these ubiquitous devices every day, you lose can be a disaster. 

Since cell phones were still small and light, they have become easier to lose, lose, or misplaced. There are some interesting figures from 2008, including: approximately 200,000 mobile phones were put in washing machines, around 600,000 had fallen down toilets, and 55,000 were left in the back of taxis. 

There is also increasing and alarming risk of theft. There are over 2 million mobile phones stolen in the UK each year. This means that, 1 cell phone is stolen approximately every 12 seconds, and this alarming trend is growing. 

When a phone is lost, of course, the original financial headaches of getting a new replacement. But there may also telephone bills accrued by a thief between the time the phone was stolen and the time it was finally proposed. So is the impact of lost data, especially contacts. 

It has been found that fewer than 1 in 5 people who depend on their cell phones go to the trouble routinely to backup their phone data. Although modern phones come with software that makes it easy to transfer data to a computer, there are still people do not take advantage of this simple plant. 

So what can we each do to protect ourselves and our valuable data against loss or theft?

   1. Firstly, it is not easy for a thief to steal your mobile phone. Never leave your phone unattended in the car and always keep it safe in a closed hand back or backpack.


   2. Make sure you record the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number of the phone. This is a unique number used for every mobile phone that can be used to disable the cell phone in case it is lost or stolen.


   3. You can set your phone to only operate after a configured PIN has been entered. Having to enter a PIN every time you use your phone can be a bit of a nuisance, but it will prevent a thief from running up significant call charges on your account.


   4. Another simple step is to switch your phone to vibrate mode when in a busy public place to ensure that no other warning when the phone rings.

 
   5. You may want to engrave your name and car registration details on your mobile phone and its battery. Alternatively, there are systems for attaching unique serial number stickers (as stated by trackitback.com) to your mobile phone as this will help to identify the phone if it is lost or stolen.


   6. It is worth getting into the habit of backing up your SIM card data frequently. If you add new contacts and contracts each day, so you should backup your phone data every day.


   7. Finally, make certain that you have a cell phone, insurance which will provide the protection you need. There are differences between different mobile phone insurance policies so be sure to read the fine print and ensure that the policy suits your needs.
