A final-year student of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his room (No 22) in AIIMS Hostel-II on Wednesday.
The student, Bal Mukund Bharti, was reportedly depressed for the past few days as he had failed in the community paper in the examination.
The police said Bharti, who is from Sagar in Madhya Pradesh, had locked himself in his room and the door had to be broken down.
A student told Newsline: “He was very depressed from the past three to four days. He had become a recluse and would hardly meet us.”
“After finding Bharti’s body, his friends rushed to the security guard, who then informed the police,” a police officer said. “We were informed that the boy was depressed after failing in the examination. We are looking into the case.”
