Facebook to set up support centre in Hyderabad

Facebook, one of the leading social networking sites with about 400 million active users worldwide, said it will set up its first India support centre in Hyderabad. The company said the proposed centre will supplement its global operations and support teams located in Palo Alto, Dublin and Austin.

“This will be our first support centre in India for Facebook. The objective to set up an effective operations team is to provide round-the-clock, multi-lingual support and a team in India will help us to fill this need,” Don Faul, Director, Global Online Operations, Facebook told Express.

He, however, declined to indicate the size of the proposed centre and the tentative timeframe by when it will commence operations. But added that the company has already initiated hiring process and is currently recruiting online sales and operations teams.

The move to set up an India support centre comes in a bit late though, as its competitor, Google, which runs social networking site Orkut, already has a support centre up and running in the city.
