Omar wants to rehabilitate, employ J&K stone pelters

In a radical move by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah the state government could consider a proposal to rehabilitate and employ stone-pelting protesters.

If the proposal comes to effect, the stone pelters in Jammu and Kashmir are could get a new lease of life. Omar Abdullah plans to rehabilitate the protesters, 500 of who were recently arrested by the security forces and have been slapped charges under the stringent Public safety Act (PSA).

It however needs to be seen as to what extent this new carrot and stick policy would work in the valley, which is marked by frequent protestations.
