Two killed as Maoists attack toll plaza in Bihar

Suspected Maoist guerrillas killed two people, including a security guard, and injured several when they attacked a toll plaza on a highway in Bihar's Gaya district, police said on Wednesday.

The incident occurred late on Tuesday when armed guerrillas attacked the toll plaza on Grand Trunk road at Mahapur village in Gaya, about 100 km from Patna. A security guard and a truck driver were killed.

Maoists also set on fire three vehicles after looting arms and ammunition from the security guards of the toll plaza.

The incident was related to the two-day shutdown called by Maoists in six states to oppose a sweeping crackdown on them.

Late on Monday night, Maoists had blasted a railway track in Gaya that led to the Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express train being derailed.
