Yes Online Classified Ads can be an effective way to create real and significant traffic to your website!
You may have read that online classified ads were dead or just a place where spammers alive, but I'm here to tell you that they are alive and kicking. Simply use the right classified sites (no surprises there).
Still do not believe me? Well what if we told you that eBay has premier and largest auction site in the world launched Classified ads as part of their service? Get interested yet?
They offer full multimedia options (video and audio), and regular text / html and are excited for you to link to your website and shows an e-mail address (all these things are not accessible by regular eBay auction, and at least not if To avoid potentially get your auctions shut down).
We am sure you will agree that eBay would not launch a new service, unless they felt they could make money out of this (and lots of money!).
And here the kicker, search engines absolutely love eBay and you can be sure that your link will be found by search engines very, very quickly (and you site indexed / re-indexed at almost any time).
Thinking laterally you can use this to launch a website and get your website indexed in a day or so of the search engines. Contrast that with how long the indexing can take using other methods (weeks and months in some cases).
Now, because it is relatively new, only certain categories of eBay currently allows Classified Ad's, but you can be sure it will grow with time.
The great thing about them is that you pay a fixed price for the classified ad to get it listed for about a month (or you can define a shorter period). Potential clients fill out a form on your designated page and the details forwarded to you.
Alternatively, you can have a link to your sales page and the customer can navigate directly there.
Of course eBay is not the only classified ads site, rather well the largest site for classified Ad's is craigslist.org (also eBay owns a 25% stake in that company).
Craig Newmark (the owner) started the site in San Francisco (actually when you surf over to craigslist.org you start in this area).
But it has grown to include all U.S. states, as well as many countries including Australia , Canada , Mexico , Sweden , England and many more.
Pressing the website you can easily select the area you want to focus on.
If you look at the classifieds software, we suggest that you do some careful research first.
Millions of people use craigslist.org every day, as it is a huge opportunity for you, and really cool thing is many posts are free! There is a fee for job postings in some areas, but a large part of the site is free.
Again, thinking laterally, if you find out a classified ad in a specific location is not free on Craigslist, try a different location, you finally find a free one.
Now do not think you will be able to make a classified ad on Craigslist, and after it in every place or serve it up for all to see, unfortunately it does not work like that. And if you start posting the same thing again and again to several areas of the Craigslist ad would get pulled.
So you must be smart about this. Remember my harp on and on about the relevant good content?
No differences to find here, so make sure your post is to provide useful content and relevant information and that it is posted in the correct location / section of craigslist.org.
If you sell computer equipment not write it in Beauty Services (even if you think your computer is a beauty as mine is).
Now duplicate content is frowned upon, and will probably get your ad's deleted, but it's not to say that you can only send once.
Post to multiple areas by all means, but make sure your content is different and mix it up a bit. Although you probably can get away with just changing the subject and reposting, it is far better to actually change the main text as well, so that if a potential customer reads both your classified ads, they usually view them as the same classified ad and report you (in which case, both classified ads will probably be deleted).
Most of Craigslist classified ads to stay online and available for up to 45 days, so you get great value in letting them up. And like eBay, search engines love Craigslist too, and you will find your site is indexed very quickly when you have mail.
Craigslist has some important posting rules you should be aware of, so be sure to read the help so you know exactly what the rules are.
Make sure the links you see actually works if your show an e-mail address, make sure it is alive and that you check it regularly.
The good thing about Craigslist is that unlike most other classified ad websites, they put no limit on the space you can use for your ad, so get creative, get your text rich and powerful and get people pumped up to click your link and find out more about you.
Now we have discussed the eBay ads and Craigslist, which we think they are the two main places you want to get listed, but there are literally thousands of other classified ad sites, you should consider.
There's even software out there that you can buy that will automatically send your ad to hundreds of classified ads (although we personally do not use software like this).
If you have any experience of a particular product, please drop me a line and we want to record your results in a future version of this ebook to the benefit of all readers.
