Raised waffles Recipe

How to make yeast raised waffle at home. Easy recipe, great waffles.

When it comes to having waffles, most people reach for frozen variety. Given their convenience, no beast them. But, considering their lack of complex flavor and crunch, they may leave you wanting. For the lightest and crispiest waffles, they must be made from scratch. Why waste your money on frozen waffles, when the dough for these can be easily prepared and close the refrigerator? 

Waffle Recipe - Preparation

Makes 4-7 waffles. Depends on size of waffle iron 

    * 1 3 / 4 cups (300ml) whole milk, semi-skimmed and skimmed or skimmed milk 
    * 8 tbsps unsalted butter, cut into 8 pieces 
    * 2 cups (300g) all purpose flour, or strong 
    * 1 tablespoon sugar 
    * 1 teaspoon salt 
    * 1 1 / 2 tsps instant yeast 
    * 2 large eggs 
    * 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 

Heat milk and butter in small saucepan over medium-low heat until the butter has melted, about 4 minutes. Let it cool until warm. Meanwhile, whisk flour, sugar, salt and yeast together in large bowl. 

Gradually whisk hot milk mixture into flour mixture and continue to whisk until batter is smooth. Whisk eggs and vanilla together in small bowl until combined, then whisk into batter until integrated. 

Scrape down sides of bowl with rubber spatula. Cover bowl closely with plastic film and refrigerate for at least 12 hours up to 24 hours. 

Waffle recipe - Serving

Preheat oven to 200 degrees F. (100 degrees C) and adjust oven rack to middle position. Following the manufacturer's instructions, heat waffle iron. Remove waffle batter from refrigerator when waffle iron is hot. Batter will be foamy and doubled in size. Whisk batter to recombine. Dough will now deflating. Bake waffles according to manufacturer's instructions. Remove wafers to wire rack set on baking sheets, covered with clean tea towel. When the final waffle is cooking in iron, remove towel to let the waffles crispy. Served 

Waffle Recipe - to freeze and reheat

Place the cooked waffles on a baking sheet and place it in the freezer. When frozen, put the wafers into a zip lock bag. They can be frozen up to a month. Reheat individually in a toaster or toaster oven. To reheat several wafers at a time, adjust oven rack to middle position and heat oven to 400 degrees F. (200 degrees C). Place the waffles on a baking sheet and bake until heated through about 10 minutes. 

Optional - Strawberry Syrup 

Fantastic strawberry waffles compliments very well, and it is very easy to make strawberry syrup at home. 

    * 1 / 2 cup (110g) sugar 
    * 1 / 2 cup (110 mL) water 
    * 3 / 4 cup (180g) fresh or frozen strawberries 

Mix sugar and water in a saucepan and cook over medium heat until bubbles. Meanwhile, mash strawberries into a bowl. Add mashed strawberries in sugar and water mixture and bring to boil. Reduce heat, simmer, stirring occasionally, about 10 minutes (cook uncovered). Serve on waffles with ice.
