Schools: past perfect, future tense

Sat, Jun 27

90:10 will affect 25,000 SSC students in district

The 90:10 formula (90 per cent seats for SSC students and 10 per cent for CBSE and other
board students) for Class XI admissions, will in fact prove a bane for the SSC students,
at least in the district, as over one lakh students have passed SSC exams this year and there
are only 84,560 seats available.

And if the formula is implemented, the number will come down to 76,104.

Even as the parents of the CBSE and other board students are crying foul over the formula,
it is the other face of reality that has come to the fore.
The question now before the
education department will be as to how to accommodate the extra 25,000 SSC students in the
district.
