July 17 (Bloomberg) -- Japan’s Prime Minister Taro Aso survived an attempt
by rebel lawmakers within his Liberal Democratic Party to oust him before a
general election next month that polls suggest it will lose.
Legislators led by former LDP Secretary-General Hidenao Nakagawa failed
to get the required number of signatures from colleagues in both houses of
parliament needed to call a meeting for a vote on Aso’s leadership, senior
party lawmaker Masatoshi Wakabayash said..
