NEW DELHI: The Indian and French navies have managed to ensure the safe
release of 14 Indian hostages by scaring off the pirates who had hijacked
their dhow in the Gulf of Aden on July 10.
"The close coordination between the two Navies helped in freeing the 14
crew members of Indian dhow `MV Nafeya', which was hijacked by seven
heavily-armed pirates off Boosaaso near Somalia. The hostages were,
however, robbed of their cash and valuables,'' said an officer on Thursday.
