Mumbai Water Supply Cut 30% on Deficient Rain, Press Trust Says

July 7 (Bloomberg) -- Water supplies across India’s financial capital, Mumbai, will be cut to 30 percent below
normal from today as monsoon rains remain weak and reservoirs dry up, Press Trust of India reported, citing a
city official.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation pruned supply by 10 percent on June 8 and then doubled the cut on
June 20, the news agency said, quoting the city’s additional municipal commissioner, Anil Diggikar.
Water levels at five of the six lakes and reservoirs that supply Mumbai’s annual requirement have dipped
precariously, the news agency said late yesterday.
