Art Directors Guild names film and TV nominees


Closing out a week where it earned nominations from both the directors and producers guilds of America, "The Hurt Locker" received another nod Friday from the Art Directors Guild for their Excellence in Production Design Award for a contemporary film.

Joining "Hurt Locker" production designer Karl Juliusson in the contemporary category are Allan Cameron for "Angels & Demons," Bill Brzeski for "The Hangover," Naomi Shohan for "The Lovely Bones" and Steve Saklad for "Up in the Air."

Period film contenders are Jess Goncher for "A Serious Man," David Wasco for "Inglourious Basterds," Mark Ricker for "Julie & Julia," Nathan Crowley for "Public Enemies" and Sarah Greenwood for "Sherlock Holmes."

Vying in the fantasy film category are Rick Carter and Robert Stromberg for "Avatar," Philip Ivey for "District 9," Stuart Craig for "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," Scott Chambliss for "Star Trek" and K.K. Barrett for "Where the Wild Things Are."

On the television side, single-camera series nominees are Mark Hutman for the pilot of "Glee," Dan Bishop for the "Souvenir" episode of "Mad Men," Michael Wylie for the "Kerplunk" installment of "Pushing Daisies," Suzuki Ingerslev for the "Never Let Me Go" episode of "True Blood" and Mark Worthington for the "There's No Place Like Mode" installment of "Ugly Betty."

Television movie or miniseries nominees are Yuda Acco for "Ben 10 Alien Swarm," Kalina Ivanov for "Grey Gardens" and Michael Pickwoad for "The Prisoner."

Vying in the half-hour single-camera TV series are Keith Ian Raywood and Teresa Mastropierro for the "Apollo, Apollo" episode of "30 Rock," Dan Butts for the "Evicted" installment of "Flight of the Conchords," Richard Berg for the "Coal Digger" episode of "Modern Family," Michael Gallenberg for the "Niagara" episode of "The Office" and Joseph P. Lucky for the "Ducks and Tigers" installments of "Weeds."

Warren Beatty is the recipient of the ADG's Outstanding Contribution to Cinematic Imagery Award. Terence Marsh earns the Lifetime Achievement Award and production designer Michael Baugh earns the Creative Leadership Award.

The ADG is also inducting several acclaimed production designers into its Hall of Fame including Malcolm F. Brown, Bob Keene and Ferdinando Scarfiotti.

Winners will be announced at a gala ceremony on Feb. 13 at the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
