Business Casual Wear

Business casual wear

Many offices have business casual dress policy, but the term "business casual" causing great confusion for some people when they are dressed. Will a spaghetti-strap tank top and Miniskirt be fit for office? What a comfortable pair of old sneakers? What exactly is business casual wear?

History:

Business-casual dress gained popularity in the 1990s, when tech companies run by young people decided that the fight was against their workplace ethos. Many traditional companies began to follow their example, the first initial "casual Fridays" and then switch to business casual wear full time. In the late 2000s led a backlash against sloppy dress and confusing dress codes that some companies offer casual abandon and return to formal business attire, especially for employees in positions that require frequent meetings with external customers or suppliers. But many companies still allow business casual dress.

Function:

Goals by switching from traditional business dress to business casual wear is twofold: to improve morale and make management seem to be more forthcoming. Allowing business-casual clothes leads to higher morale because the employees will be more comfortable and have to spend less on clothes, shoes and cleaning. It all goes in khakis and a golf shirt is supposed to flatten the perception of hierarchy in traditional hierarchical corporate structure (instead of the head in a tailored suit, while bees wear suits they bought off the rack).

Women's Clothing:

Acceptable business casual clothes for women are neat and conservative. Shoulders and cleavage should not be on the screen. A set of patterned sweater and skirt to the knee are appropriate, which is a couple of pressed black trousers and a cotton blouse or thin sweater. Jewelry can be colorful, but should not hinder the work (such as heavy, noisy bracelets). As for shoes, flip-flops are never acceptable office attire. Some offices have closed a shoe policy, but if you do, you still should not wear strappy sandals. Test mules or sling backs, which can be sweet, but still a professional look.

Men's Clothing:

Appropriate business casual wear for men is simple: pressure Chino and a collared shirt. The Chino may be dark or light, dark trousers look a little more formally. Shirt can be either a golf shirt or a button-front shirt in a color or pattern. The shirt is usually worn open at the neck without a tie. A jacket is not normally worn, but a sports jacket may be a good supplement, especially if you have an important meeting. Casual loafers or lace-ups and leather Oxford complete look. If you normally wear dark (navy, black or dark gray), pants, and wear black shoes if you prefer bright Chino, wear brown shoes. Keep them in good condition (and polished if necessary).

Warning

Employees often abuse casual-dress policies. Naked midriffs and backs are always inappropriate for even the most casual office, although the outfit is nice and expensive turning slouchy yoga pants and a T-shirt is not acceptable, although the body is fully covered, because they look too messy. Men sometimes equating casual with sloppy, and so while their clothing choices may be appropriate to wrinkles and stains do not. Business-casual wear is not a relaxation of standards as much as to change them.
