Deccan Chargers slaps legal notice on IPL

Hyderabad, Feb 15 (IBNS) Deccan Chargers Monday issued a legal notice to the Indian Premier League (IPL) for shifting all Hyderabad matches to other places in face of the Telangana agitation, according to media reports.

Now the team, from the state that won the last edition of the tournament, is waiting for IPL authorities to respond to its notice.

Deccan Chargers chairman V. Shankar told reporters : “The IPL has taken a unilateral decision to shift all our home matches out of Andhra Pradesh though Chief Minister K. Rosiah, Sports Minister K. Venkat Reddy and the DGP have assured us full protection in the conduct of these matches.”

“The Telangana Agitation Committee has also given us in writing that they want these matches to be held (as per schedule),” Shankar added.

Earlier, on Saturday, Andhra Pradesh government slammed the IPL organizers for shifting matches out of Hyderabad owing to the Telangana turmoil.

The Congress government in the state also asked Deccan Chargers to boycott IPL for insulting the state by shifting matches.
