Fear grips Bharati Vidyapeeth students

Grief over Aditya Mehta's death and a sense of fear was palpable among students on the Bharti Vidaypeeth campus on Wednesday.

Aditya, a final-year student of electronics engineering at Bharati Vidyapeeth's College of Engineering here, succumbed to injuries sustained in the German Bakery blast early on Wednesday.

The college organised a condolence meeting to pay homage to Aditya on Wednesday, after which the students were let off. The college's notice board carried a message informing about Aditya's demise.

"On Saturday, Aditya had called his parents in Delhi. He had told them that he was very hungry and would be going to his favourite hang-out, German Bakery. This was around 6.30 pm. At 7.15 pm, they got a call informing them about the bomb blast and Aditya's serious condition," A R Bhalerao, principal, Bharati Vidyapeeth's College of Engineering, said.

Aditya's friends recalled that he had come to the city in 2006 to pursue his studies. They said he was a huge fan of soccer player Ronaldinho and that he was part of the college football team.
