Macaws - The Fun Rainbow Bird

Scarlet macaws originally come from South and Central America and are large colorful parrots that can grow to some 30 to 35 inches in length at maturity. Like their name implies, they are predominantly a light red color with blue wing feathers and splashes of blue and yellow on the rest of their feathers.

Like all other macaws, scarlet macaws are intelligent and therefore very quick to learn different tricks. They are natural performers and need daily interaction or otherwise they quickly become bored. If you do not let your area out of his cage at least once a day, they can become aggressive, or develop bad rap and bad habits. Bad habits which can be grown without proper training and socialization includes plucking, excessive screaming.
When your macaw screams, it is most likely out of boredom. But the worst thing you can do in this situation is to give your macaw what it once it starts to scream. When it turns out screaming is an effective way to get things, it will never stop.

Green wing macaws is one of the largest parrots, measuring up to 36 inches at maturity. They are very beautiful and similar to the Scarlet macaw, except that green wing macaws have green bands on their wings rather than yellow. Although they are larger than most parrots, they have a relatively stable and humorous temperament, less likely than other small parrots to strangle you or become aggressive.

You should feed your green wing macaw, a varied diet that consists not too much of seeds and nuts. This is because they contain a large amount of fat that can lead to health problems for your macaw in the future. The base diet you should feed your macaw is organic pills, but it must be mixed up by adding a variety of fruits, vegetables, leaves and bark to ensure that your bird gets all the nutrients it needs.
