German food plays a big part of everyday culture and tradition in Germany. Almost any party, either private or public, will be accompanied by exceptional tasting food and tasty beer.

It is unfortunate that the once famous cooking used to prepare German food, is now in decline. Large food outlets now offer the convenience of buying sauerkraut, sauerbraten, and even the German dumplings, as "ready to cook." Almost every bakery has exquisite cakes readily available. 

The price to be paid for this convenience is that we create a generation of people who would no longer know where to start to create even a simple traditional German meal. 

German food and German culture is intertwinned close. Without a targeted focus on revitalizing art of German cooking, the German food culture in danger. This should be of concern for those living in Germany. Similar problems are being experienced by German immigrants and their descendants who have gone to live in other parts of the world.
