How do I keep ants from entering my Hummingbird or Oriole Feeder?

You can get a feeder with or without ant guard. If you do not have one attached to the accessory you can buy separately and attach it to your feeder.

How ant-call work?

A hook at one end of the ant guard attaches to the hanger or hook where you hang the feeder and the other end of the ant guard attaches to the hummingbird feeder. Between the two corners of the ant guard is baffle with a base station. Inside the baffle is a poison, only ants have access to. When ants crawl up on the hanger, they must climb down outside the baffle against the feeder. They then forced to crawl into the baffle to reach nectar inside the feeder. When the ants reach poison it creates a barrier that makes it difficult for ants to reach nectar inside the feeder.

How it was built in ant moat work?

The hummingbird feeders built in ant moat to prevent ants from reaching the nectar in the feeder. To reach the feeder ants must pass through the ant moat that is filled with water. The water prevents ants from reaching the nectar, because ants do not swim.

The best hummingbird feeders to buy are those that you can hang. Be sure to clean and scrub the entire hummingbird feeder once or twice a week to keep the birds healthy. Cleaning the feeder will attract more birds to your feeding station.
