Koi Fish Food: Treats For Your Fish

Koi owners really enjoy it when feeding their pets with treats. See your Koi are responding to the food you give them is really a lovely sight, and you can do this activity with your children (and grandchildren). While feeding your fish is a great bonding experience with them, you should always take some important steps before you do it.

Remember that your koi will eat anything you want to give them, whether it's good for them or not, so it makes it important for you as the owner to control their snack food. You should avoid overfeeding, as they not only know when to stop feeding, which can lead to obesity (especially with non-nutritional them) for them, if not monitored.

Every Koi owner will always think that their pets deserve the best deals there, so there are many kinds of food that you can give your fish that contain nutritional value, and those that are guaranteed not to harm them in any way.

Natural Treats: The best treatment for your fish are those which can be found naturally in the pond, and these are blood worms, earthworms and tadpoles. Look around your Koi pond, to find them and when you do, you can always dig up these tidbits from the soil around the pond, or you can also buy similar products at your local pet store.

Salad: This treatment is rich in essential vitamins and minerals, making it very healthy for your pet. You do not have to tear them into smaller pieces as they will enjoy doing it yourself!

Shrimp: It's edible crustaceans, which are very similar to shrimp, only larger. These are good for your pet they are rich in protein. You can buy shrimp in the stores, feed stores and local pet stores. Shrimp are sold as regular or frozen (if frozen, be sure to melt them down before feeding it to them). These are good for stimulating the hand feeding.

Bread: Wheat bread is one of the cheapest treats available. What you need to do is take a piece of it, break it up, and roll it into small balls and then throw it in the pond. You should avoid all forms of white bread, which has small amounts of bleach and other chemicals that can harm your fish.

Fruit: Your fish will eat a wide variety of fruit. When you feed your Koi, be sure to break up the fruit into small pieces. Remember that most fruits are high in natural sugar, which can be very harmful for them if you have large amounts to make it a point that you feed them fruit only during special occasions.

If you feed them with goodies such as beans, corn and grapes, be careful, because they contain outer clothing that can be swallowed by your pet, do not be properly digested by them. You must first remove the outer clothing before you feed them. Make sure you do not feed your koi, to feed them a lot will intervene in their diet, causing more damage to them than good.
