The Protector: bizarre mix of kung fu films and a boy and his puppy story, this cheap looking prduction from Thailand are sentimental, while a youthful martial artist has his beloved elephants stolen by thugs and transported to Australia. After the poor man, he hooks up with a Thai Born Australian researcher and not struggle with vicious gangs and others in an attempt to recapture his little Dumbo. Credits include Tony Jaa, Petchtai Wongkamlao, Bongkoj Khongmalai, Nathan Jones, Johnny Nguyen, Xing Jing, and Damian De Montemas. (81 minutes, 2005) 

The Guru: Harmless comedy in reference to an Indian dance professor (Mistry), who come to America seeking popularity and success in the film industry. As an alternative, he lands a job in a porn film, is best friends with his beautiful megastar (which is really a "great gal" who leads a triple life), then accidentally to become a star as "expert in sex. " Some ridiculous gags, a likable leading man, and good joke performances by Graham and Tomei improve this choppy feel-good flick. Cast Cast includes inter alia Heather Graham, Marisa Tomei, Jimi Mistry, Michael McKean, Christine Baranski, Rob Morrow, Emil Marwa, Malachy McCourt, Ajay Naidu, and Anita Gillette. (91 minutes, 2003) 

Rhythm on the Range: Ruined N.Y.C. city gal runs away on the eve of her wedding and heads west to avoid gangsters. She meets a cowboy who tries to win her over. Implies feather weight class musical comedy includes Bing attractive version of "I Might't flee from you." Cast includes Bing Crosby, Frances Farmer, Bob Bums, Martha, Raye, Lucille Gleason, Samuel S. Hinds, Louis Prima, and Leonid Kinskey. (85 minutes, 1936) 

Dragonfly: An ER doctor, sorrow for his lifeless wife, takes over a series of signals from her that contains messages from the youthful patients who have had near-death experiences. What do they mean? More drawn out than it should, although a fascinating and unusual story about a guy is metaphysical odyssey. Cast includes Kevin Costner, Kathy Bates, Joe Morton, Ron Rifkin, Linda Seek, Susanna Thompson, Jacob Vargas, Jay Thomas, and Matt Craven. (103 minutes, 2002) 

The Little Theater of Jean Renoir: the quartet of short stories with regard to human respectability and usefulness of country living (instead of attaching a dehumanized urban forest). Renoir's celluloid swan song may not be in the middle of his best, but still has much to offer. Cast includes Jeanne Moreau, Femand Sardou, Francoise Arnoul, Jean Carmet, Marguerite cassan, and Dominique Labourier. (100 minutes, 1971) 

Mother: sad young woman who lives with his mother plans to carry out suicide. Her mother invests days trying to keep her from doing so. Well done, asked for and reviewed, but still only a stage drama. Cast includes Sissy Spacek and Anne Bancroft. (96 minutes, 1986)
