Soren meets Chidambaram, says no differences with Centre

Days after being asked by P Chidambaram to assure that the state is "on the same page" with the Centre over tackling the naxal menace, Jharkhand chief minister Shibu Soren met the Union home minister on Wednesday and told him that his government did not have any difference with the Centre on the issue.

After meeting Chidambaram, Soren said the state would "jointly" fight the Maoists.

He, however, said he simply wanted the anti-naxal operation to go hand-in-hand with development activities for which he sought a "special package" from the home minister. He was promised that the Centre would provide a special package to the state in April, he added.

Soren was accompanied by his two deputy CMs Raghuvar Das and Sudesh Mahto.

The chief minister, however, did not mention when he would be here for a joint meeting over the issue with his Bihar and West Bengal counterparts.
