Healthy Sesame Chicken Recipe

Delicious and seductive this healthy version of Sesame Chicken will keep your family craving your cooking instead of expensive and unhealthy sign. 

Sesame seed has been masquerading as nothing more than that is a spice for over 2000 years. It was known as a medicine by the Egyptians, Turks and Persians used it for oil, it served as a food and most important ingredient in many Asian cultures, and is believed to have been brought over to America in the 17th century, while African ointments were brought to the United States via the slave trade. 

In 1930, Americans spent quite sesame oil, it was so popular then that it was considered the major vegetable oil in the early 1900s. As the years went by, intrigues of sesame seeds began to decline, but in 1956, Pillsbury had a sesame seed bake-off, which seemed to put it back on the heads of many American chefs and consumers. So much so that new recipes and culinary concoctions offer sesame seeds were the newest culinary sensation. Sesame seeds are now used in the selection of foods and dishes such as bread, biscuits, pastries, hamburger buns, and sesame chicken recipe your TV right now, plus many more. 

Time: About 30-45 minutes Makes about 4 servings 

Per Serving:

    * 5g fat (1g saturated)

    * 6% Iron 

Ingredients 

Sesame Chicken: 

4 skinless chicken breast halves (about 1 pound) 

2-3 teaspoons of Chinese Hot Mustard or Hot Mustard 

1 ½ cups rice biscuits (not cookies), crushed (1 cup) 

2 teaspoons sesame seeds 

¼ cup apricot spreadable fruit (melting is optional) 

Hot Mustard Sauce: 

3 tablespoons ground dry mustard 

2 tablespoons water 

1 tablespoon seasoned rice vinegar 

Directions 

Hot Mustard Sauce:

1st Mix all ingredients. 

2nd Cover and let stand for 5 minutes. Use the sauce on the same day it was made, when stored strength increases, but the quality decreases. 

* If you want the chicken to be more lenient or a little less spicy, dilute the mustard with 1 tablespoon nonfat mayonnaise. 

Baked Sesame Chicken:

1st Warm oven to 425 degrees. 

2nd Using a nonstick cooking spray a rectangular baking dish, 11x7x1 ½ inches. 

3rd Spread 1 side of each chicken breast half with mustard. 

4th Mix cracker crumbs and sesame seeds in a plastic bag and add chicken breast half one by one. 

5th Seal bag and shake to coat chicken, covering completely. 

6th Place chicken in baking dish, sprinkle any remaining crumb mixture over the chicken. 

7th Spray chicken slightly, about 3 seconds and bake uncovered 25-30 minutes or until juice of chicken is no longer pink when thickest part of chicken is cut. 

8th Then drizzle with melted fruit spread. Sesame chicken is served with steamed broccoli, rice or noodles.
