Thai Style Fried Noodles Pipes with red curry sauce

Learn how-to make an Asian side dish features rice noodles, Chinese cabbage, basil, mint, carrot and roasted peanuts in a spicy chili sauce. 

Pipes fried rice noodles with red curry sauce makes a great side dish or main meal. Red curry paste is a very potent and spicy ingredients, a little goes a long way to add a bit of spice to the noodle dish. This recipe makes 4 dinner size or 6 lunch size portions of Thai-style noodles. This dish is a bit similar to a traditional Pad Thai noodle recipe.


Ingredients for Pipes Fried Noodles with red curry sauce 

    * 8 ounces wide rice noodles 
    * 1 / 3 cup vegetable oil 
    * 1 tablespoon red curry paste, 
    * 2 cups Chinese or Napa cabbage - coarsely chopped 
    * 1 tablespoon ponzu sauce 
    * 1 tbsp fish sauce 
    * 1 tbsp palm sugar 
    * One tablespoon lime juice 
    * 1 / 4 cup roasted peanuts - chopped 
    * 1 / 2 cup fresh basil leaves - roughly chopped 
    * 1 / 3 cup fresh mint leaves - coarsely chopped 
    * 1 carrot - peeled and grated 

Guidelines for Tube Fried Noodles with red curry sauce 

   1st Add rice noodles to a large bowl, fill bowl with water and let the pull of 40-60 minutes, or until they started to bleed. While noodles are soaking, prepare ingredients for the rest of the recipe. 
   2nd In a small bowl, mix with ponzu sauce, fish sauce, palm sugar and lime juice, set the bowl aside. 
   3rd Heat the vegetable oil in a wok, placed over medium high heat. 
   4th Add red curry paste to wok and stir into the hot oil. 
   5th Add cabbage to the wok and cook for a minute or two, or until the cabbage begins to wilt. 
   6th Drain water from rice noodles, then add the noodles to the wok. 
   7th Stir mixture of ponzu sauce, fish sauce, palm sugar and lime juice. 
   8th Pipes peanuts, basil and mint and cook for a minute or two. 
   9th Turn the heat off, then pour the noodle mixture into a large serving dish or large bowl. 
  10th Decorate the Thai style stir fried noodles with red curry sauce with the grated carrot. 
  11th Serve immediately. 

Recipe Tips and suggestions

   1st Ponzu sauce is a citrus flavored soy sauce. Regular soy sauce may be substituted for the ponzu sauce. 
   2nd If a wok is not available, use a large skillet to make Thai-style noodles. 
   3rd Other fresh herbs such as parsley and / or coriander can be used instead of basil and / or mint. 
   4th Garnish such as lime wedges, slice green onions, or additional chopped peanuts, can be served with noodle dish. 
   5th Light brown sugar can be replaced with palm sugar. 

Red Curry Paste 

The red curry paste used in this recipe containing shrimp paste, which makes it unsuitable for vegetarians. Try making a homemade version of red curry paste and shrimp paste, delete, making a curry paste that can be used by vegans and vegetarians. 

Ready-made red curry paste can be bought from online specialty shops such as Importfood.com and Temple of Thai. Homemade curry sauce contains many ingredients and take time to prepare because all ingredients must be pounded to a fine paste with a mortar and pestle.
