Coimbatore: Bangalore’s Abhishek Jha won the LG Tamil Nadu Open amateur golf championship
at the Coimbatore Golf Club course here on Friday.
The 22-year-old Abhishek made the best use of the condition to fire a three-under 69 in the final
round to register his maiden win of the season in the LG Indian Amateur Tour.
India’s top golfer Rashid Khan of Delhi, who submitted a level-par card, fell six shots short and
had to be content with the second spot.
“I am obviously very pleased with my effort today. I hit the ball well and everything fell in the
right place,” said an elated Abhishek.
Abhishek looked in fine nick right through the day. He flirted with birdies but also missed an
eight-footer for an eagle to remain at one-under after the first eight holes. In the par-5 ninth, he
swerved to the left on his drive and ended up with a bogey to take the turn at level par.
