Citigroup said it would submit a business improvement plan to Japan's financial regulator after it
was ordered to suspend sales promotion for a month at its retail banking division for lax controls
against money laundering.
"Citibank Japan is committed to implement all necessary measures to prevent any future
occurrence of the problems identified," the company said in a statement, adding it would submit
the improvement plan to the regulator by July 31.
