There are companies out there in the industry struggling simply because they can not keep pace with technological developments and are about to be beaten by competitors who can offer their customers improved communication channels. Here we look at 3 advances in communications that travel companies are using to stay one step ahead of the game

One could argue that e-mail has been around for a long time now and is not a new form of communication. But there are still travel companies that do not use it to its full potential and instead still most of their communications via phone or mail. The companies that have endorsed this technology, and Oceania Cruises, use it to attract customers through newsletters, etc., arrange travel reservations, address customer inquiries promptly provide updated information to customers on their reservation, and send billing info to name a few

Internet Booking. In recent years there has been plenty of companies in the travel industry inductsy who realied how beneficial it is to have an online booking system that does not rely on back and forth emails and phone calls. These systems make booking process easy, convenient and instant, which is what the modern consumer demands now. Of course it is used with other communication methods, but companies that do not adopt this, especially in the luxury cruises domain, will soon struggle

Social media. Everyone talks about social media and how much sites like Facebook and Digg is currently, but lots of people have also been quick to criticize their usefulness. However, companies that are on top of their game or willing to keep an open mind is like Oberoi Nile Cruises, reaping the benefits of communicating with potential clients at their own level and in an informal atmosphere.
