New shampoo to restore natural hair color

For those who spend a fortune on hair color or those battling the trauma of premature grey hair, help could be at hand. Scientists have come up with a revolutionary treatment that could restore grey hair to their original color.
Giving insight into why hair turns grey, scientists stated that this is due to the progressive loss of pigment producing cells called melanocytes. As one advances in years, the dark strands start fading because melanocytes, which are found in every follicle from which hair grows, gradually start to switch off and die. However, the interesting part is that the cells which give hair its color often survive long after people turn grey.
Researchers reveal secrets
Dr. Bruno Bernard and colleagues at the hair biology research team at beauty firm L’Oreal in Paris revealed that an enzyme called TRP-2 is responsible for protecting the melanocytes that give the skin its color. They believe the enzyme may be able to re-awaken the pigment cells in hair follicles, stimulating the hair to return to its natural color.
Hence, the scientists believe it may be possible to incorporate the TRP-2 enzyme in a shampoo, hair conditioner or hair cream and then activate the dormant melanocytes.

The researchers declared that as long as a few melanocytes are present, the whitening process could be reversed by reactivating these cells. “The hair whitening process is slow and progressive, so we can prevent it,” stated Dr Bernard. Treatment hailed as revolutionary
The discovery of a natural enzyme to prevent graying was a relief for many people across the world, who spend millions on hair coloring products to cover the grey areas. GMTV lifestyle specialist Nick Ede declared the discovery as
