Bird Cage Hygiene is important

A removable bottom tray can be removed and cleaned, is a must for any bird cage. Whether you make a cage at home or buy it from outside, make sure that the tray is set up in such a way that allows for easy removal and addition, without disturbing the bird in any way or to open the main door of the cage . A steel tray will make handling and cleaning easier than a tray with some other material.

Since bird cage tray is held a few inches under the bottom wire of the cage, the bird is not in direct contact with it. Still, to keep the tray clean is important for the health of the bird. To facilitate cleaning, cage tray should be lined all the time. Foret is necessary not only to provide for easy cleaning, but also to allow the bird owner to investigate bird fecal matter. Any change in color or texture of their droppings may be indicative of the birds, poor health, the owner should immediately address. For this, the tray lined also changed daily so that fresh droppings and dropping the previous days do not get mixed up.

Old newspaper is the best drawer liner for a birdcage. Lining paper should be cut the proper size to cover the tray fully, touching all corners and border. Cutting more sheets to size and stacked them in a drawer at the bottom of the cage will make the cleaning process easier. You can remove two or three upper layers of the lining of the hill every day, and when stacked things is exhausted, the hill itself be pulled out and given a thorough soap and water rinse.

Use newspaper to line a bird cage is practical and economical. Those who feel that the printed newspaper is not giving a background of thorough examination of fecal matter can enter the unprinted newspaper or paper towels, or plain brown paper, as excrement will prove better. Even those who use old newspapers to line their bird cage should not use the glossy pages of colorful ads. Examination of faeces can be difficult in a colored background. Further, colored ink that newspapers are using may contain chemicals that are harmful to birds.

Different types of bird cage liners like pine shaving, cedar shavings, aspen shavings, kitty litter, ground walnut shells, wheat grass, and corn cobs are available on the market. Of these, guy from the toxicity point of view, shavings and aspen shavings are relatively harmless. Aspen shavings do not contain aromatic oils, while pine shavings contain only a limited amount of it. If the drawer is lined with these chips, the top layer is removed daily.

Many people prefer paper liners for their bird cage tray top layer removed is easier with paper than with shavings. Many bird owners are also of the view that the use of corn cobs, walnut shells, kitty litter, cedar shavings, etc. are not conducive to keeping the bird healthy. Those who feel that the newspaper is not aesthetically pleasing in supplementing birds beauty, can use plain, simple colored paper into their birdcage.
