Cockatiels and budgerigars - Is this the right Bird for you?

As the smallest member of the cockatoo family, Cockatiel birds some of the most popular cage birds in the world. However, they can bite and be temperamental, depending on their surroundings and how you handle them. This means that if you have grabby children who want to pull tails or squeeze bird, the Cockatiel not be the best choice for a pet.


On the other hand, makes Cockatiel birds that do not require as much attention as the larger members of the cockatoo family, so that they would be a good pet if you work long hours and are away from home to a majority of days. Both males and females of the species which can talk, but generally, your better bet is to buy a male budgie bird, if you want to increase the chances of getting one that does. It is difficult to tell the sexes apart when budgerigars are young, but when they get older the color of the area around his nostrils on the beak changes color - blue in males, brown in females. But there is a chance that this method of sexing your budgie is not reliable because of the different color variations exhibited by the various Budgies.
