8 Simple Tips for keeping your birds in good health of

1. For the birds to live a long life, you must feed them with a nutritional diet. Give the birds the right food from the start. Feeding the wrong diet can lead to disease and malnutrition, ultimately leading to a short lifespan.

2. The bird seed does not contain all the nutrition your pet bird needs. Bird seed is high in fat and relatively low in vitamins and proteins. Some birds, like parrots can eat other foods, and not just seeds.

3. Most birds can usually eat the same food we eat. Pasta, pretzels, breads contain whole grains are good for birds. Do not give them food that are high in fat. Under no circumstances should you feed a bird avocado. They are highly toxic to birds.

4. Introducing a variety of foods for your birds. Beans and pulses and other vegetables are good sources of vitamins and nutrition. While some birds are not open to eating new food, others are open to new varieties.

5. Do not rush to introduce new foods to your birds. Slowly introduce and change the food twice per day, an hour separating each change. Clean up any food that has been returned, so it will not be a breeding ground for bacteria and affect the bird's health.

6. Feed the bird twice a day. It will make the bird more hungry, which again makes it become more active. This will result in that the bird will be open to eating new foods. It will also tell you how much the birds eat per day, and if they eat at all. If the bird does not eat, it might be a telltale sign that it has health problems.

7. Experiment a little about the food you give the bird. Try cooking or heating vegetables first before you serve it with bird seed and serve only during meal time. Do this until your bird learns to eat vegetables on a regular basis.

8. Provide fresh water and lean all the time. Make sure the water bowl and food bowl is cleaned regularly. Use soap or bleach to remove bacteria that can contaminate the bowl. Be sure to mix some water soluble vitamins to add to your bird's water intake.

Like any pet, is key to maintaining their health with their owners. Be sure to take care of their needs so they can live a long, healthy life.
