Advantages of Stainless Steel Bird Cages and Accessories

Stainless steel is clearly against corrosion because of its combination of low carbon steel containing at least 10 percent of its weight consists of chromium. Other elements such as nickel, molybdenum and nitrogen also increase its durability. Chromium allows the formation of an invisible chromium oxide film on the surface of steel. If damaged by chemicals or a beak, the movie "self-heals" as long as oxygen is present. There are many grades of stainless steel, but the "medical quality", most often used for bird cages, dishes, and other bird accessories. Bird dishes and crock, made of stainless steel is nearly indestructible, and probably also for your bird, because the metal does not seep into drinking water, does not respond to moist foods. Stainless steel can be boiled, put in the dishwasher, scrubbed, washed or power washed. It is impervious to most common detergents and disinfectants, but because it is so easily cleaned with other methods, strong disinfectants, is rarely necessary. If disinfectants are used, be sure to rinse any remaining before returning any dishes or crock for your caged birds.

Stainless is 100 percent recyclable. More than 50 percent of new bird cages and accessories made of recycled stainless steel scrap. Also, no harsh chemicals needed for cleaning in the course of life in the cage or accessories. Stainless often proves to be the cheapest and best choice in the course of life in the cage, plus a happy and healthy bird.
