Build Your Own Bird Box

At this time of year it is really important to think of the birds. They can provide many benefits for your garden, such as getting rid of plant pests and help with pollination of plants and flowers. Providing birds with warmth and shelter during the cold months will keep them visiting your garden again and again, and this will ensure you always have their advantageous qualities covered garden.
 
Building a bird box will help your garden birds and everything you need is some wood, a saw a couple of nails, a pencil and a hammer.


How to Make:


1. Measuring your separate panels of wood with your pencil. Back panel should be higher than the front panel and the two side panels must be exactly the same size. It is best to have a bit of a doomed roof to let the water run from it. Do not forget to leave room for a hole on the front panel.


2. Saw out of wood panels and entry hole and adjust the boards. Then stitch instead take care to ensure that there is no sharp nail points inside the bird box.


3. Sand down the edge of the box to ensure there is no rough bits.


4. You can even treat the bird box with a preservative. It should however be taken to ensure that this is non-toxic and non-harmful to the creatures that inhabit it.


And there you have a safe and warm bird box. Place high up as high on a wall or on a package to prevent predators from harming the birds.


You can also fill the bird box with a couple of nuts, seeds and flesh cut-offs to lure the birds inside. If you provide a regular source of food and water for them so they will visit your garden regularly and in time you will start seeing the benefits of having them there.
